The troubled quarterback did a lot of his own damage, but it didn’t help that nearly every week he had to face heightened pressure brought upon him by headlines.
Karlos Dansby, now with the Bengals but played in Cleveland with Manziel, witnessed it first-hand. He says the pressure would have gotten to him, too.

Dansby says Manziel “can handle it,” but it doesn’t appear as if he can. The free agent (who doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon) has experienced a wild offseason of more headlines, none of them positive.
“Because it’s specifically for him, and that’s how God designed it. That’s his pressure, only he can handle that. You can only put so much on you that only you can handle. [God’s] not going to give you more than you handle, so he can handle it, I couldn’t handle it, and I told him that to his face: ‘I couldn’t handle what you’re going through right now, I can’t. I can’t live that for you.’”
