These new results are consistent with a 2015 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) study that found that a positive test for marijuana was not associate with an increased risk of being involved in a police-reported crash....

And now, a new study claiming to be the first of its kind is lending weight to that body of work, with researchers in Florida finding immigrants with felony convictions are “significantly less likely” to reoffend compared to their U.S.-born counterparts. Using data from the Florida Department of Corrections, the study, which was conducted by researchers at Florida State University and published in Justice Quarterly, analyzed the recidivism rates of 192,556 immigrants and non-immigrants who had been incarcerated and released from the state’s prisons between 2004 and 2011....

Data reveals that there were 3,791,712 births in the U.S. in 2018. That works out to 59.1 births for every 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44. This statistic represents a record low for the country. While the birth rate declined three percent for Mexican women in the U.S. in 2018, it rose one percent for Puerto Rican and Central and South American women. Lee Jeffers, 60, was identified by The Palm Beach Post as the man yelling at 15-year-old Breonna Nelson-Hicks during the confrontation in the Grand Isles development in Wellington, Florida, last Sunday. “You don’t belong in this development,” Jeffers is heard saying in the clip that went viral on social media earlier this week. “You do not deserve to be in here,” he later added. Orca, a new geothermal power plant near Reykjavik, Iceland, will capture around 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. In the process known as direct air capture, carbon dioxide is sucked from the atmosphere and stored underground, emitting cleaner air as a result. Within a few years, Climeworks estimated that the carbon dioxide will harden and turn into stone. According to the International Energy Agency, direct air capture plants globally remove around 9,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year....

Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old graduate student at the Washington State University, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder over the killings, though he has denied responsibility and hopes to be “exonerated of these charges.” Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were killed at a shared student house in Moscow, Idaho, during the early hours of November 13.
